SCHOOLS VISIT AIRSHOW
Students from schools all around San Diego have attended the Wings
Over Gillespie airshows in recent years. They came from elementary schools
through community colleges, both public and private. School attendance
has increased by about 450 students over the past 4 years. In addition
to schools close to Gillespie Field, students come from as far away as
Alpine, Poway, Bonita and Chula Vista. Admission is free to students,
their teachers and chaperones on Friday. We request that they have a
ratio of at least one adult for every 10 students.
PRESS RELEASE:
Wings Over Gillespie Air Show
Field Trip June 4th, 2010
Air Group One, the San Diego Chapter of the Commemorative Air Force has
arranged for local school students and instructors to attend the Wings Over
Gillespie Air Show on June 4th as an educational event.
We would appreciate your interest and assistance in getting the news out to
the students and educators.
Thanks to the support of sponsors like Cox Communications, there is no
admission fee for this field trip when reservations are made in advance.
At previous air shows, instructors have presented assignments to their
students involving the interviewing of Pilots, and air show performers.
Students have written about their favorite airplane and history of it.
Some have chosen to utilize their artistic talents by sketching favorite
subjects. The photographic assignments have also been a favorite of
students. Would you share your assignment ideas with us?
Please let me know soon of your interest in attending and the estimated
number of students, instructors, parents, and chaperones that wish to
attend. I’ll contact you about May 20th for an exact count, and send you the
free admission passes.
You may e-mail your questions and ideas and reservations to me at:
geolynn@nethere.com.
