ESSAY CONTEST

WINGS OVER GILLESPIE AIR SHOW 2007
ESSAY CONTEST

On June 16 & 17, 2007 Air Group One, the San Diego wing of the CAF (Commemorative Air Force, a non-profit 501 C3 organization) will present the 13th annual Wings over Gillespie Air Show at Gillespie Field in El Cajon. This year’s theme honors 50 years of the CAF.

The CAF’s purpose is to acquire, maintain and operate vintage military aircraft, ground vehicles and associated artifacts for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations. The CAF has over 10,000 members in 30 states and 4 countries and its “Ghost Squadron” consists of over 150 operational aircraft.

One of Air Group One’s missions in producing the air show each year is to make a connection between youth and aviation. This year we will be sponsoring an essay contest for children in grades 3-12. Students will compete in three grade categories: grades 3-5, grades 6-8, and grades 9-12. Three winners will be selected from each grade category for a total of 9 winners. Winners will be awarded at the air show.

Please help us promote this wonderful opportunity for San Diego youth to walk with history and share in what has become a San Diego tradition, the Wings Over Gillespie Air Show at Gillespie Field in El Cajon, CA.
